Paul Kanjorski has been a congressman for district 11 since 1984. Kanjorski is a member of the Democratic Party. He serves five counties in Northeastern Pa. He and his wife Nancy reside in Nanticoke.
Paul Kanjorski is working to help the middle class people. Kanjorski has helped raise minimum wages in order to help the working class. He wants to help protect local worker from the threat of companies going overseas. To help the working class, he has opposed NAFTA and other unfair trade agreements. This would help the middle class keep there jobs and be able to afford the cost of living.
Another way Kanjorski plans to help the middle class people is to support universal health care. This would help give everyone good health care coverage. This can also help our stance on a national economic level. Until universal health care is passed, he has been focusing on the health care of seniors and children. He has also supported the investments in health research. By his support, this could help cure diseases and even help us in the future.
As a veteran himself, Paul Kanjorski wants to make sure that our veterans are treated correctly after their duty of fighting for our country. Kanjorski has supported the new G.I. Bill of Rights. He has also supported the lowering of mortgages for veterans and the lifetime healthcare from the VA Department. Kanjorski has put millions into the Wilkes-Barre VA hospital and to help better the healthcare of our veterans. I agree with this because my grandfather is a veteran who has fought for this country in two wars and deserves to have specials rights for risking his life for our country.
As a result of the resent crash in Wall Street, our social security is being put at risk. Paul Kanjorski is fighting to protect our social security fund from being diminished. The social security system has helped guaranteed retirees income after they have stopped working. He has fought against President Bush about privatizing social security and led the fight against Bush’s personal accounts. Social security is very important to our society today. It helps the disabled and the retirees once they can not work anymore. It is a good thing and should be fought for.
A big issue in this election is the illegal immigration. Paul Kanjorski has supported the SAVE Act, which will increase border patrol and improved interior enforcement. He also supports the making of the English language as ours official language. I believe to decrease the amount of illegal immigrants, in the U.S., we need to increase our border controls, which is what Kanjorski plans to do.
Another important issue is the economic effect on student loans. Kanjorski believes a college education is a major part of the “American Dream.” He has ensured that even through this economic crisis, there will be loans available for those wishing to attend college. As a senior in high school, this largely affects me. By having loans available, students without these loans wouldn’t be able to go could go.
These are only a few of Paul Kanjorski’s views on the issues. Kanjorski’s views on these issues are the reason I support him. I agree with him on these issues, and if reelected, I feel he could help better Northeastern Pa and the rest of the United States.

Paul Kanjorski is the best possible candidate for Pennsylvania’s State Representative. He has been a congressman for 24 years and is better equipped to handle the job than the other candidate. His view on the important issues, such as civil rights, abortion, and stem cells is exactly what we need to get the rights of the citizens on track.
His views on civil rights will have a large impact on the way that citizens live their lives, especially in the gay community. Paul Kanjorski has voted for gay rights a good portion of the time. He has voted No, for banning gay adoption in D.C. in July 1999. He voted Yes, for prohibiting job discrimination based on sexual orientation. He also was opposed to constitutionally defining marriage as one man-one woman, and opposed to making a constitution amendment banning same-sex marriage. These views are vital if the is to be any change in the way that gay people are treated and the rights that they are entitled to have.
Paul Kanjorski’s views on abortion and stem cells are another reason that I believe he should be elected. He has voted in favor of expanding stem cell lines. He has also voted in favor of allowing human embryonic stem cell research. He also voted against interstate transport of minors to get abortions.
I do not agree with all of Paul Kanjorski’s opinions, but I feel that he is the better candidate. He is more prepared and better equipped to handle to tough job of being a state representative.

In my opinion, Paul Kanjorski is the best possible candidate in the upcoming election. Between his experience and his views I strongly feel that he should be elected as congressman.
Congressman Kanjorski strongly supports helping families out with financial aid, by exposing and keeping jobs within America. He opposed NAFTA, which disadvantaged American workers. He also is fighting to help American workers regain their jobs that they lost because of foriegn competition. Congressman Kanjorski also wants to raise the minimum wage. In times like these, where the economy is struggling, we need leaders like Paul Kanjorski to help middle class families.
Paul Kanjorski is also looking out for the health of the people. He supports the idea of universal health care which would give everyone good health care. He also wants an increase of screening programs and vaccinations, which would prevent many different illnesses. Congressman Kanjorski also wants to expand research of diseases and cures, which, eventually, would save money on doctor visits.
Mr. Kanjorski's views on education are the main reason I believe he should be elected. He is urging Congress to pass H.R. 5715, the Ensuring Continued Access to Student Loans Act of 2008, in order to provide students the ability to take out loans for college. He believes every student should have the opportunity to further their education, without worrying about being able to afford it. He think it would be irresponsible of Congress if students are forced to drop out because they didn't recieve the loans they needed. Mr. Kanjorski worked to pass the No Child Left Behind Act, which increased the quality of education in elementary and secondary schools throughout the country. This act included improving teacher quality, reducing class size, and making it mandatory for students to pass national, standardized tests. He also is working to increase funding for education programs like Head Start, Pell grants, and Stafford loans. He is also pushing to provide Pennsylvania schools with millions of dollars for repairs and renovations.
Congressman Kanjorski is also against illegal immigration. He supported the SAVE Act to establish better border control. He voted yes on building a fence along the Mexican border. Paul Kanjorski also wants to make English the official language. Without as many illegal immigrants, America as a whole will improve.
With Congressman Kanjorski's beliefs and views on things like education, immigration, jobs, and health care, I believe he is the best candidate in this upcoming election. If he wins I believe it will be for the betterment of Pennsylvania, and on a higher scale, American as a whole.
